Divine Mercy Drive 2020

Thank you and a huge hug to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish for the loving support for the Divine Mercy Drive for the homeless.  Even though OLPH is a small community, her people came through in a mighty way!    Over 175 pounds of food, medicine and hygiene products were donated by OLPH parishioners. Over 52 to-go bags of food for the homeless were put together from these contributions. Feeding the hungry was put into practice by Parish Council members Pam Plazak and Dae Simeon as they served hot food items to a crowd on hungry people on December 6, 2020. The to-go bags and items from OLPH were distributed at this gathering.

“The Catholic Church has traditionally encouraged her children to understand the practice of merciful love by dividing the works of mercy into two kinds: corporal (that is, bodily) and spiritual. What we see in the life of Mother Teresa is a shining example of a life dedicated especially to practicing the corporal works of mercy:

  1. Feed the hungry.
  2. Give a drink to the thirsty.
  3. Clothe the naked.
  4. Shelter the homeless.
  5. Visit those in prison.
  6. Comfort the sick.
  7. Bury the dead.”

Thank you to Parish Council member Pam Plazak who, with this project, reminded us about some of the important things in life. Thank you, Sylvia Chai, Clarisse Castro, Chi Roque, Dae Simeon and Pam Plazak for putting together the to-go bags of food. Thank all of you who thoughtfully helped with this act of merciful love.  May God bless you abundantly!
