From today’s gospel reading:
Then he sat down, called the Twelve, and said to them, “If anyone wishes to be first, he shall be the last of all and the servant of all. Taking a child, he placed it in their midst, and putting his arms around it, he said to them, “Whoever receives one child such as this in my name, receives me; and whoever receives me, receives not me but the One who sent me”.
Reflection:
While traveling to Capernaum the apostles were arguing about who was the greatest among them. To correct this, Jesus teaches them about leadership. Bringing a child into their midst Jesus also emphasizes hospitality, suggesting them the need of openness and tenderness in approaching the community.
Today we are reminded to promote the common good, be humble, serve others and welcome people into the faith community. We, the religious leaders should heed Jesus’ words and reflect on their implications.
So, we ask ourselves:
What can you do to make the church more welcoming?
How can you become a better leader?

De la lectura del evangelio de hoy:
Luego se sentó, llamó a los Doce y les dijo: “Si alguno quiere ser el primero, que sea el último de todos y el siervo de todos. Tomando a un niño, lo colocó en medio de ellos, y abrazándolo les dijo: “El que recibe un niño como este en mi nombre, me recibe a mí; y el que me recibe a mí, no me recibe a mí, sino a Aquel que me envió”.
Reflexión:
Mientras viajaban a Cafarnaúm, los apóstoles discutían sobre quién era el más grande entre ellos. Para corregir esto, Jesús les enseña acerca del liderazgo. Al poner a un niño en medio de ellos, Jesús también está enfatizando la hospitalidad; sugiriéndoles la necesidad de apertura y ternura al acercarse a la comunidad.
Hoy se nos recuerda que debemos promover el bien común, ser humildes, servir a los demás y dar la bienvenida a las personas a la comunidad de fe. Nosotros, los líderes religiosos, debemos poner más atención a las palabras de Jesús y reflexionar sobre sus implicaciones.
Entonces, nos preguntamos:
¿Qué puedes hacer para que la iglesia sea más acogedora?
¿Cómo puedes convertirte en un mejor líder?
