From today’s gospel reading:
“Jesus did this as the beginning of his signs at Cana in Galilee and so revealed his glory, and his disciples began to believe in him”.
Reflection:
Christmas opened a series of manifestations of the presence of the glory of God in Jesus: to the shepherds, to the wise men coming from afar; followed last week by the Baptism of the Lord and today by Jesus’ appearance at Cana.
The miracle at Cana, that reveals the inner qualities and true identity of Jesus Christ, is just the beginning.; John is promising us there will be more “signs” that will manifest God’s glory in Christ.
At the wedding feast, John tells us Jesus “revealed his glory” to his disciples, who “began to believe in him” – it is a nice ending to a charming story; but, what about us?
If the “signs” Jesus performed were the manifestation of the presence of God …
We ask ourselves:
Wouldn’t it be useful to reflect on our own life and bring to mind the times when our acts have been signs of the power and presence of God in us?

De la lectura del evangelio de hoy:
“Jesús hizo esto como el comienzo de sus señales en Caná en Galilea y así reveló su gloria, y sus discípulos comenzaron a creer en él”.
Reflexión:
La Navidad abrió una serie de manifestaciones de la presencia de la gloria de Dios en Jesús: a los pastores, a los sabios que venían de lejos; seguida la semana pasada por el Bautismo del Señor y hoy por la aparición de Jesús en Caná.
El milagro de Caná, que revela las cualidades internas y la verdadera identidad de Jesucristo, es sólo el comienzo. Juan nos está prometiendo que habrá más “señales” que manifestarán la gloria de Dios en Cristo.
En la fiesta de las bodas de Caná, Juan nos dice que Jesús “reveló su gloria” a sus discípulos, quienes “comenzaron a creer en él”. Este es un buen final para una historia encantadora; pero ¿y qué tiene que ver todo esto con nosotros?
Si las “señales” que Jesús realizó fueron la manifestación de la presencia de Dios…
Nos preguntamos a nosotros mismos:
¿No valdría la pena que reflexionáramos en nuestra propia vida y recordáramos las veces en que nuestros actos han sido signos del poder y de la presencia de Dios dentro de nosotros?
