From Fr. Hector’s Desk – January 2, 2022

From today’s gospel reading:

“They prostrated themselves and did him homage. Then they opened their treasures and offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh”.

Reflection:

The Feast of the Epiphany reminds us that we all have a gift we can give to the King of Kings; this Feast also reminds us that our gift is far more precious than those of the three wise men.

Our gift is not a one-time gift of gold, frankincense, or myrrh… it is a full-time gift of love and service. Some people may consider us foolish for giving this gift, but that’s only because they don’t know the promise Jesus himself has offered us in Matthew 25: 34-35,40:

“Come, you who are blessed by my Father. Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry, and you gave me food, I was thirsty, and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me… Whatever you did for one of these least…of mine, you did for me”.

So, we ask ourselves:

How are we going to implement, in our concrete lives, these evangelical counsels, so we may gain access to God’s Kingdom?

OLPH Christmas Day Mass 2021

Entonces, me pregunto:
