From today’s Gospel reading
When Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, in the days of King Herod, behold, magi form the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying, “Where is the newborn king of the Jews?”
Reflection
Where are we looking for Jesus today? Even if we had no other gospel story than this one, we should know where to look: among the newcomers and displaced; among the newborn poor and their families; among those who have no roots and are searching; among those pushed around by an uncaring system of laws and decrees.
So, we ask ourselves
Would I describe myself as one of the modern-day magi, a searcher for God? How do I go about that search day?

Cuando Jesús nació en Belén de Judea, en los días del rey Herodes, he aquí, unos magos del oriente llegaron a Jerusalén, diciendo: “¿Dónde está el recién nacido rey de los judíos?”
Reflexión
¿Dónde estamos buscando a Jesús hoy? Incluso si no tuviéramos otra historia del evangelio mas que ésta, sabríamos dónde buscar: entre los recién llegados y desplazados; entre los pobres recién nacidos y sus familias; entre los que no tienen raíces y están buscando; entre los empujados por un sistema indiferente de leyes y decretos.
Entonces, nos preguntamos
¿Me describiría a mí mismo como uno de los magos modernos, en búsqueda de Dios? ¿Cómo le tengo que hacer para continuar esa búsqueda cada día?
