From today’s reading of the Acts of the Apostles:
“When the time for Pentecost was fulfilled, they were all in one place together. And suddenly there came from the sky a noise like a strong driving wind, and it filled the entire house in which they were”.
Reflection:
Ruagh is the Hebrew word for “spirit”, but also for “breath” and “wind”. As we read in the opening verses of Genesis, the Spirit (“wind”) hovered the watery chaos. This “wind” brings order out of the chaos. God’s Spirit has not stopped creating, not stopped breathing into our lifeless situations, deteriorating relationships, conflicts, and hopelessness. God continues to breathe life into the dead places or our lives and the world.
So, we act:
Replay in your imagination God’s breathing into lifeless clay, creating human life. It’s a powerful image that can give hope when we see no hope.
And having been given the gift of the Spirit, regardless our history of failure and dispersion, we will be formed into a church; but we will have to leave our confined quarters and go to proclaim the risen Christ, whose Spirit we have personally experienced.

De la lectura de hoy de los Hechos de los Apóstoles:
“El día de Pentecostés, todos los discípulos estaban reunidos en un mismo lugar. Y de repente vino del cielo un ruido como cuando sopla un fuerte, que llenó toda la casa en la que estaban”.
Reflexión:
Ruagh es la palabra hebrea para decir “espíritu”, pero también para “aliento” y “viento”. Como leemos en los versículos iniciales del Génesis, el Espíritu (“viento”) flotaba sobre las caóticas aguas. Este “viento” viene a poner orden al caos. El Espíritu de Dios no ha dejado de crear, no ha dejado de soplar en nuestras situaciones sin vida, relaciones deterioradas, conflictos y desesperanza. Dios continúa insuflando vida a los lugares muertos en nuestras vidas y en el mundo.
Acción:
Repite en tu imaginación cuando Dios sopló en las narices de un poco de arcilla sin vida, creando vida humana. Es una imagen poderosa que nos puede dar esperanza cuando la hayamos perdido.
Y habiendo recibido el don del Espíritu, independientemente de nuestra historia de fracaso y dispersión, seremos formados en una iglesia; pero tendremos que dejar nuestros confinamientos e ir a proclamar a Cristo resucitado, cuyo Espíritu hemos experimentado personalmente.
