Gloria Cardona, María Rosas and Yolanda Trejo attended, as representatives of our parish, the “First Diocesan Assembly of Hispanic Ministry” – held on March 5, in the church of St. Patrick’s, in Tampa – with Bishop Gregory Parkes welcoming and granting his blessing.
In this meeting, the different ministries offered by the Pastoral Center were explained. A brief historical memoir of the Hispanic ministry was made. It was explained how the Diocesan Hispanic Assembly would work, and before lunch, there was a meeting by regions and groups. Ending, after lunch, with a diocesan Synod session.
Within the package with material that was distributed to the attendees, there was a copy of the Hispanic Pastoral Plan for the Diocese of St. Petersburg, approved on March 25, 1993 – containing among many other information, a brief historical review of the ministry around Tampa Bay area that I would like to share with you, in a separate article, due to its close relationship with Ybor City and with the pastoral care that our parish has carried out since its foundation.

Gloria Cardona, María Rosas y Yolanda Trejo asistieron, como representantes de nuestra parroquia, a la “Primera Asamblea Diocesana del Ministerio Hispano” – celebrada el 5 de marzo, en la iglesia de San Patricio, en Tampa – con el Obispo Gregory Parkes dando la bienvenida y otorgando su bendición.
En esta reunión se explicaron los diferentes ministerios que ofrece el Centro Pastoral. Se hizo una breve memoria histórica del ministerio hispano. Se explicó cómo funcionaría la Asamblea Diocesana Hispana y, antes del almuerzo, hubo una reunión por regiones y grupos. Después del almuerzo se tuvo una sesión del Sínodo diocesano.
Dentro del paquete con material que se distribuyó a los asistentes, había una copia del Plan de Pastoral Hispana para la Diócesis de San Petersburgo, aprobado el 25 de marzo de 1993. El paquete contenía también, entre muchas otras informaciones, una breve revisión histórica de la pastoral hispana en el área de la Bahía de Tampa, que me gustaría compartir con ustedes en un artículo aparte, debido a su estrecha relación con Ybor City y con la pastoral que nuestra parroquia ha llevado a cabo desde su fundación.
