From today’s Gospel reading
The rulers sneered at Jesus and said, “He saved others, let him save himself if he is the chosen one, the Christ of God …” Above Jesus there was an inscription that read, “This is the King of the Jews”.
Reflection
Jesus, the king, is showing us a power from the cross in contrast to what the world reckons as power and rule. His power is not exerted by force over us but inviting us to become one with him. He is offering himself to us in a relationship that is strong, even when it appears weak.
So, we ask ourselves
Can you name two or three powers that lay claim to the hearts of people in the world?
What powers compete with Jesus’ rule within our church? Within ourselves?

De la lectura del Evangelio de hoy
Los gobernantes se burlaron de Jesús y dijeron: “Él salvó a otros, que se salve a sí mismo si es el elegido, el Cristo de Dios …” Sobre Jesús había una inscripción que decía: “Este es el Rey de los judíos”.
Reflexión
Jesús, el rey, nos está mostrando el poder de la cruz en contraste con lo que el mundo considera como poder y sobera-nía. Su poder no se nos impone por la fuerza, sino que nos invita a ser uno con él. Él se está ofreciendo a nosotros en una relación que es fuerte, incluso cuando parece débil.
Entonces, nos preguntamos
¿Puedes nombrar dos o tres poderes que reclaman los corazones de las personas en el mundo?
¿Qué poderes compiten con la soberanía de Jesús dentro de nuestra iglesia? ¿Dentro de nosotros mismos?
