Feast of Sto. Nino del Mundo 2024

Saturday, October 26, 2024
10:00 Mass
Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church

The Feast of Sto. Niño del Mundo will be observed during the 10:00 AM mass on Sunday, October 26, 2024, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, with Rev. Kyle D. Smith officiating. The celebration is organized by the church in collaboration with the OLPH Filipino community.

The devotion to Sto. Niño, the Holy Child, has been a central part of Philippine Catholicism since 1521, when the explorer Ferdinand Magellan arrived in the Philippines. After the local chief, Rajah Humabon, converted to Christianity, Magellan gifted him a statue of the Child Jesus. This statue, now the oldest Christian relic in the Philippines, has become one of the country’s most treasured icons. Over time, it has been reproduced across different regions, gaining various titles, including Sto. Niño del Mundo.

Sto. Niño del Mundo, or the Holy Child of the World, is depicted in royal attire, holding a scepter in one hand and a golden globus cruciger in the other.
