Why register with your parish?

Is it really important?

Many people don’t realize how important it is to be registered at a parish — until they find themselves wanting to:

• Be a Godparent for a child at their Baptism
• Become a Sponsor for someone at their Confirmation
• Get Married in a Catholic Church
• Wanting to baptize their child in the next month or so
• Apply to a Catholic or Christian school
• Get financial assistance for attending a Catholic or Christian school

That’s when they discover that their pastor needs to sign a form confirming they are a registered and active member of the parish. This means being involved in worship, contributing to the offertory, and possibly volunteering in a ministry. If you’re registered, it’s a breeze since you’re already in the system! But if you haven’t registered yet, it can take a little more time and effort.

Plus, registering with your parish comes with some wonderful benefits, such as:

• Spiritual care from your pastor, who is here to support and guide his church family.
• A sense of belonging to a loving community of faith.
• Yearly giving statements for tax purposes (thanks to your Offertory Envelope number).
• Quicker bookings for baptisms, quinceañeras, and weddings.
• Opportunities to get involved and volunteer within the parish.

Wondering if you’re registered?

Attending Mass each week does not automatically mean you are registered with the parish. The easiest way to confirm your registration is to check your unique envelope number. If you chose not to receive envelopes when you registered, feel free to reach out for assistance! Muchas personas no se dan cuenta de lo importante que es estar registrado en una parroquia, hasta que se encuentran con el deseo de:

• Ser padrino o madrina de un niño en su Bautismo
• Ser padrino o madrina de alguien en su Confirmación

• Bautizar a su hijo en el próximo mes, aproximadamente

Es entonces cuando descubren que su párroco debe firmar un formulario que confirma que son miembros registrados y activos de la parroquia. Esto implica participar en Misa, contribuir al ofertorio y, posiblemente, ofrecerse como voluntario en algún ministerio. Si ya está registrado, ¡todo resulta muy sencillo, ya que sus datos figuran en el sistema! Pero si aún no se ha registrado, el proceso podría requerir un poco más de tiempo y esfuerzo.

Además, registrarse en su parroquia conlleva maravillosos beneficios, tales como:

• Atención espiritual por parte de su párroco, quien está a su disposición para apoyar y guiar a su familia parroquial.
• Un sentido de pertenencia a una comunidad de fe y amor.
• Estados de cuenta anuales de sus donaciones con fines fiscales (gracias a su número de sobre de ofertorio).
• Mayor agilidad en la reserva de fechas para bautizos, quinceañeras y bodas.
• Oportunidades para involucrarse y ofrecerse como voluntario en la parroquia.

¿Se pregunta si está registrado?

Asistir a Misa cada semana no significa automáticamente que usted esté registrado en la parroquia. La forma más sencilla de confirmar su registro es verificar el número de su sobre.
