From today’s gospel reading:
“This is how it is with the Kingdom of God; it is as if a man were to scatter seed on the land and would sleep and rise night and day through it all the seed would sprout and grow, he knows not how. Of its own accord the land yields fruit… And when the grain is ripe, he wields the sickle at once, for the harvest has come”.
Reflection:
In today’s parable Jesus compares the kingdom to someone scattering seeds. One interpretative possibility is to understand God as the one who scatters the seeds and completes the harvest. Another possibility is that “the person” represents Jesus’ followers, collectively, and that the seeds are their words and actions that they plant in the world, where their growth is nurtured, inadvertently, by the land (by God).
So, we ask ourselves, if we focus, for a moment, on the second possibility:
What can you do to increase your understanding of the Gospel?
How could you teach the kingdom of God to others?
How can you better meet people where they are, like Jesus did?
And most importantly, how your personal behavior could be an effective teaching on the values of God’s kingdom?

“Así es con el Reino de Dios; Es como si un hombre esparciera semillas sobre la tierra y se fuera a acostar y se levantara to dos los días. Y mientras, las semillas irían brotando y creciendo, sin saber él cómo. Por sí sola la tierra da fruto… Y cuando el grano est á m aduro, el hombre empuña la hoz enseguida porque ha llegado el tiempo de la siega”.
Reflexión:
En la parábola de hoy, Jesús compara el reino con alguien que esparce semillas. Una posibilidad interpretativa es entender a Dio s como el que esparce las semillas y completa la cosecha. Otra posibilidad es que esta persona” represente a los seguidores de Jesús, colectivamente, y que las semillas sean sus palabras y acciones que plantan en el mundo; donde su crecimiento es nutrido, inadvertidamente,
por la tierra (por Dios).
Entonces, nos preguntamos, si nos enfocamos, por un momento, en la segunda posibilidad:
¿Qué puedes hacer para aumentar tu comprensión del Evangelio?
¿Cómo podrías enseñar el reino de Dios a los demás?
¿Cómo puedes entender mejor a las personas en la situación en la que se encuentran, como lo hizo Jesús?
Y lo más importante, ¿cómo tu comportamiento personal podría ser una enseñanza eficaz sobre los valores del reino de Dios?
