“WHY DO YOU LOOK AMONG THE DEAD THE ONE WHO IS ALIVE?”
Christ did not face death to remain dead. It was because He wanted to liberate the world that He died. The winner is the person who accepts death to save others. Because the resurrection of Christ we know that life has a meaning; that we should not be afraid of anything!
That is why, during Lent, we have been engaged in an effort to get a personal change of life. We also made the effort to be more engaged with the life of the Church at two levels, diocesan and parochial. In order to combine these last two levels, it occurred to me that we could add another purpose to the second collection of the first weekend of the month.
In one hand, parishioners will be encouraged to continue supporting the diocesan ministries by being faithful to their pledges. They might send their CMA envelopes directly to the diocese or bring them here and deposit them in the second collection basket.
But the name of this second collection will change to, “Preservation and Maintenance of our Parish Facilities and Grounds”, to reflect that any money (that will not come inside the CMA envelop) will be directed to help paying our increasing maintenance expenses. If you are a registered parishioner, you already receive an envelope every month that says, “Maintenance Fund”.
You can bring that envelope and deposit it into the second collection basket the first weekend of the month; or you can drop cash if you prefer. There will also be some special envelopes available at the entrance of the church, so you can use them any Sunday or Saturday evening. God bless you for all your generosity!

“¿POR QUÉ BUSCAN ENTRE LOS MUERTOS AL QUE ESTÁ VIVO?”
Cristo no se enfrentó a la muerte para permanecer muerto. Se enfrentó a la muerte porque quería liberar al mundo. Triunfadora es la persona que acepta la muerte para salvar a otros. Con la resurrección de Cristo sabemos que la vida tiene un sentido; no debemos tener miedo de nada.
Es por eso que, durante la Cuaresma, nos hemos empeñado en un esfuerzo para conseguir un cambio personal de vida. También hemos hecho el esfuerzo de estar más comprometidos con la vida de la Iglesia a dos niveles, diocesano y parroquial. Para combinar estos dos últimos niveles en un solo proyecto, se me ocurrió que podríamos darleun doble propósito a la segunda colecta del primer fin de semana de cada mes.
Por un lado, quiero animar mis feligreses a continuar apoyando los ministerios diocesanos, siendo fieles a lo que han prometido dar a la Campaña de los Ministerios Católicos. Pueden continuar enviando sus sobres directamente a la diócesis o pueden traerlos aquí y depositarlos en la canasta de la segunda colecta, el primer fin de semana del mes.
Pero el nombre de esta segunda colecta cambiará a “Preservación y Mantenimiento de las Instalaciones y Terrenosde nuestra Parroquia”, para reflejar que cualquier dinero (que no venga dentro del sobre de CMA) se destinará a ayudar a pagar nuestros crecientes gastos de mantenimiento. Si usted es un feligrés registrado, ya está recibiendo cada mes, un sobre que dice: “Fondo de Mantenimiento”.
Puede traer ese sobre, el primer fin de semana del mes, y depositarlo en la canasta de la segunda colecta; o puede dar dinero en efectivo. También habrá algunos sobres especiales disponibles en la entrada de la iglesia, para que pueda usarlos cualquier domingo o sábado por la noche. ¡Que Dios les bendiga por toda su generosidad!
