From today’s Gospel:
Jesus, looking at him, loved him and said to him, “You are lacking in one thing. Go, sell what you have, and give to the poor and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me”.
Reflection:
This Gospel is another reminder of putting faith into action. Sometimes this message is visible through Jesus’ healing and service ministry, but today we hear of self-sacrifice as an aspect of full participation in faith in Christ.
The man in the Gospel is shocked and sullen over the command to give up his possessions. The disciples are astonished and consider this to be almost an impossibility. Difficult or not, the Gospel is clear in its insistence on care for the poor.
So, we ask ourselves:
Do we value wisdom and prudence, even if it challenges us?
In what ways can we help communities that are poor and vulnerable?
How can we increase our service to others?

Del Evangelio de hoy:
Jesús, mirándolo, lo amó y le dijo: “Te falta una cosa. Ve, vende lo que tienes, y dáselo a los pobres y tendrás un tesoro en el cielo; luego ven y sígueme”.
Reflexión:
Este Evangelio es otro recordatorio para que pongamos la fe en acción. A veces este mensaje es visible a través de la curación y el ministerio de servicio de Jesús, pero hoy escuchamos sobre el autosacrificio como un aspecto de la plena participación en la fe en Cristo.
El hombre en el Evangelio está conmocionado y hosco por el mandato de renunciar a sus posesiones. Los discípulos están asombrados y consideran que esto es casi una imposibilidad. Difícil o no, el Evangelio es claro en su insistencia en el cuidado de los pobres.
Entonces, nos preguntamos:
¿Valoramos la sabiduría y la prudencia, incluso si nos desafía?
¿De qué manera podemos ayudar a las comunidades pobres y vulnerables?
¿Cómo podremos aumentar nuestro servicio a los demás?
