From today’s gospel
Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever does not enter a sheepfold through the gate, but climbs over elsewhere is a thief and a robber. But whoever enters through the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. The gatekeeper opens it for him and the sheep hear his voice as the shepherd calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.
Reflection
Our shepherd Jesus isn’t just a leader of a flock; we are not just part of a crowd. He “calls his own sheep by name and leads them out”. It’s good to know we are not lost in the crowd, or just another person in the pews, one of the anonymous sheep. There are times in our lives when we need to be re-minded that Jesus knows us “by name”. In biblical language, to know a person’s name is to know the person. So, we are well known, and our needs are recognized by the Risen Christ in our midst.
So, we ask ourselves
Have I experienced a personal, “by name” call from Jesus? When?
Am I responding, or resisting that call?

Amén, amén, te digo, quien no entra en un redil a través de la puerta, sino que sube a otro lugar es un ladrón y un ladrón. Pero quien entra por la puerta es el pastor de las ovejas. El portero abre para él y las ovejas escu-chan su voz mientras el pastor llama a sus propias ovejas por su nombre y las guía.
Reflexión
Nuestro pastor Jesús no es solo el líder de un rebaño; no somos sólo parte de una multitud. Él “llama a sus propias ovejas por su nombre y las guía”. Es bueno saber que no estamos perdidos en la multitud, o simple-mente otra persona en las bancas, una oveja anónima. Hay momentos en nuestras vidas cuando necesitamos que se nos recuerde que Jesús nos conoce “por nuestro nombre”. En lenguaje bíblico, conocer el nombre de una persona es conocer bien a esa persona. Por lo tanto, somos bien conocidos, y nuestras necesidades son reconocidas por Cristo resucitado en medio de nosotros.
Entonces, nos preguntamos
¿He experimentado un llamado personal, “por nombre” de Jesús? ¿Cuándo?
¿Estoy respondiendo o resistiendo esa llamada?
