From today’s Gospel:
Have you come to believe because you have seen? Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.
Reflection:
When Thomas finally comes face to face with Christ he makes a huge act of faith, “My Lord and my God”. He went from doubt to faith. Because of Thomas’ skepticism at the beginning, we learn that Christ was not merely a ghost revisiting old haunts. His wounds were real, the crucified one was tangible. Jesus invited Thomas and us to move beyond our need for tangible proofs by urging us, “Believe”, even without seeing.
So, we ask ourselves:
How have we personally seen and touched the risen Lord? Can we still touch and see Christ’s real wounds in those suffering in today’s world? Could we try to meet Jesus Christ more often, especially through the sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Communion? And receiving these sacraments, do we feel compelled to bring the Divine Mercy to all in our life and be sponsors of a new culture of compassion, very much needed nowadays?

“¿Has llegado a creer porque has visto? Bienaventurados los que no han visto y han creído.”
Reflexión:
Cuando Tomás finalmente se encuentra cara a cara con Cristo, hace un gran acto de fe: “Señor mío y Dios mío”. Pasó de la duda a la fe. Debido al escepticismo de Tomás, al principio, aprendemos que Cristo no era simplementeun fantasma que volvía a visitar viejos lugares. Sus heridas eran reales, el crucificado era tangible. Jesús invita a Tomás y a nosotros también a que vayamos más allá de nuestra necesidad de pruebas tangibles instándonos a creer profundamente en su resurrección.
Entonces, nos preguntamos:
¿Cómo hemos visto y tocado personalmente al Señor resucitado? ¿Podemos todavía tocar y ver las heridas de Cristo en los que sufren en el mundo de hoy? ¿Podríamos tratar de encontrarnos con Jesucristo más a menudo, especialmente a través de los sacramentos de la Reconciliación y la Sagrada Comunión? Recibiendo estos sacramentos, ¿nos sentimos impulsados a llevar la Divina Misericordia a todos en nuestra vida y fomentar una nueva cultura de compasión, tan necesaria hoy en día?
