From Today’s Gospel
“So, do not be afraid … Everyone who acknowledges me before others I will acknowledge before my heavenly Father.”
Reflection
Our first reading presents in front of our eyes a good example of someone, in this case the same prophet Jeremiah, who suffers persecution because of various denouncements he made in the name of the Lord.
But the prophet knows that the Lord is with him, like a mighty champion and sings to the Lord for he has rescued the life of the poor.
That is the kind of witness, especially in the home, that Jesus is talking about in today’s gospel. This is the kind of witness that Jesus invites us to make. It is the kind of witness that, if we implement it, can change our family relationships and lives in a most a most remarkable way.
So, we ask ourselves
What is keeping us from implementing it? Jesus himself alludes to it three times in the course of the Gospel. It is fear. And three times Jesus says to his followers, “Fear not!”.

“Entonces, no tengáis miedo … A todo aquel que me reconozca delante de los demás, yo lo reconoceré ante mi Padre celestial”.
Reflexión
Nuestra primera lectura presenta ante nuestros ojos un buen ejemplo de alguien, en este caso el mismo profeta Jeremías, que sufre persecución a causa de varias denuncias que hizo en el nombre del Señor.
Pero el profeta sabe que el Señor está con él, como un poderoso campeón y canta al Señor porque ha rescatado la vida de los pobres.
Ese es el tipo de testimonio, especialmente en el hogar, del que Jesús está hablando en el evangelio de hoy. Este es el tipo de testimonio que Jesús nos invita a dar. Es el tipo de testimonio que, si lo implementamos, puede cambiar nuestras relaciones familiares y nuestras vidas de una manera increíble.
Entonces, nos preguntamos
¿Qué nos impide implementar este testimonio? Jesús mismo alude a este tema tres veces en el curso del Evangelio. Es el miedo. Y tres veces Jesús dice a sus seguidores: “¡No temáis!”.
