From today’s Responsorial Psalm (104):
“Lord, send out your Spirit, and renew the face of the earth.”
Reflection:
Today we are invited to join with the disciples who gathered in Jerusalem, after Jesus’ return to the Father, and received the Holy Spirit on Pentecost.
The world around them seemed to be the same, as it had been two months before, but they were different enough to allow themselves to be set on fire by God’s Spirit.
If they had not been open to God’s goading Spirit, Christianity would have died at its birth.
Instead, they carried the message of God’s relentless love throughout the world and for 2000 years others have continued to carry it forth.
So, we ask ourselves:
Are we courageous enough to harbor the open-ended expectations demanded of anyone who prays, “Lord, send us your Spirit, and renew the face of the earth?
Are we generous enough to give ourselves to spreading the fire of God’s love in our nation and in our world as needy as they have ever been?

“Señor, envía tu Espíritu y renueva la faz de la tierra”.
Reflexión:
Hoy estamos invitados a unirnos a los discípulos reunidos en Jerusalén, después del regreso de Jesús al Padre, recibiendo al Espíritu Santo en Pentecostés.
El mundo a su alrededor parecía ser el mismo, como lo había sido dos meses antes, pero ellos habían cambiado, ellos se habían dejado encender por el Espíritu de Dios.
Si no hubieran estado abiertos al Espíritu aguijoneador de Dios, el cristianismo habría muerto al momento del parto.
En cambio, llevaron el mensaje del amor implacable de Dios por todo el mundo, así por más de 2000 años la Iglesia ha continuado llevándolo adelante.
Entonces, nos preguntamos:
¿Somos lo suficientemente valientes como para cumplir con todas las expectativas exigidas a cualquiera que clama: “Señor, envíanos tu Espíritu y renueva la faz de la tierra”?
¿Somos lo suficientemente generosos como para dedicarnos a difundir el fuego del amor de Dios en nuestra nación y en nuestro mundo tan necesitados como están?
