From today’s Gospel reading
“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.”
Reflection
The feast of the Ascension is a challenge and a consolation. It’s a challenge in the sense that it exhorts us to follow the directions that Jesus gave us for journeying to our heavenly destination. It’s also a consolation in the sense that it reminds us that Jesus is with us every foot of the way. He is driving just behind us just in case we need help.
So, we ask ourselves
Which unexpected twists and turns in our lives, have had the most impact in our journey of faith?
Do we really believe that Jesus is with us throughout all of our lives?
How much have we followed Jesus’ instruction about teaching others to follow his commands?

“Id, pues, y haced discípulos a todas las naciones, bautizándolos en el nombre del Padre, y del Hijo, y del Espíritu Santo, enseñándoles a observar todo lo que os he mandado. Y he aquí, yo estoy con vosotros todos los días, hasta el fin del mundo.”
Reflexión
La fiesta de la Ascensión es un desafío y un consuelo. Es un desafío en el sentido de que nos exhorta a seguir las instrucciones que Jesús nos dio para viajar a nuestro destino celestial. También es un consuelo en el sentido de que nos recuerda que Jesús está con nosotros a cada paso del camino. Él va justo detrás de nosotros en caso de que necesitemos ayuda.
Entonces, nos preguntamos
¿Qué giros y vueltas inesperados en nuestras vidas han tenido el mayor impacto en nuestro camino de fe?
¿Realmente creemos que Jesús está con nosotros a todo lo largo de nuestras vidas?
¿Cuánto hemos seguido la instrucción de Jesús acerca de enseñar a otros a seguir sus mandamientos?
