Jesus said in today’s Gospel reading:
If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mulberry tree, “Be uprooted and planted in the sea’, and it would obey you.”
Reflection:
Mustard seed faith is planted in us at our baptism. It is watered and cultured by family, friends, and the worshiping community and so it grows. Great faith is already contained in the mustard seed. WE tend to be preoccupied by size and quantity. We presume that we need a lot of faith to tackle the important issues in our lives and the world around us. This preoccupation can limit our whole-hearted, response to the tasks we disciples have before us.
So, we ask ourselves:
Have we ever used the excuse that our faith is weak and done nothing when we should have
done something? Have we encouraged others in their faith? How?

En la lectura del Evangelio de hoy Jesús dice:
Si tienes fe del tamaño de una semilla de mostaza, le dirías a esta morera: “Desenráizate y plántate en el mar”, y te obedecería.
Reflexión:
La fe, como una semilla de mostaza, es plantada en nosotros, en nuestro bautismo. Es regada y cultivada por la familia, los amigos y la comunidad de creyentes y así crece. En esta pequeña semilla de mostaza ya se encuentra contenido el posterior desarrollo de nuestra fe. Tendemos a preocuparnos por el tamaño y la cantidad de las cosas. Suponemos que necesitamos mucha fe para abordar los problemas importantes en nuestras vidas y en el mundo que nos rodea. Esta obsesión puede limitar nuestra respuesta a las tareas que debemos enfrentar los discípulos.
Entonces, nos preguntamos:
¿Alguna vez hemos usado la excusa de que nuestra fe es débil y no hemos hecho nada cuando deberíamos haber hecho
algo? ¿Hemos alentado a otros en su fe? ¿Cómo?
