Dear parishioners,
September 1 marked the 37th anniversary of Marist presence at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, regretfully, that will cease next year. I will have the opportunity to go more into detail later. What I can tell you now is that our Marist superiors have decided to pull out the Marists from this parish, and the reason being is aging of the members of the American Province of the Society of Mary and the lack of younger replacements.
So, by this time next year, there won’t be any remaining Marist at OLPH. Fr. Paul will be transferred to Wheeling, WV this September 20th and I will be transferred to Mexico by July or August 2024.
Through all these years we have been sharing with you our Marist spirituality. It has been an incredible and blessed faith journey, we have been together, like a faithful marriage, “in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health” for almost 38 years, since the arrival of the first Marists in 1986.
I will keep you informed about the advancement of this process; in the mean while I would ask your prayers and collaboration so this year of transition can go as smoothly as possible.
Let us ask Our Lady of Perpetual Help to intercede with Jesus her Son, in favor of this parish community and in favor of the Marists, alive or deceased, that have been part of the history of this church.

Queridos feligreses,
El 1 de septiembre marcó el 37º aniversario de la presencia marista en la Iglesia de Nuestra Señora del Perpetuo Socorro, esta presencia, lamentablemente, cesará el próximo año. Ya tendré la oportunidad de entrar en más detalles más adelante. Lo que puedo decirles ahora es que nuestros superiores maristas han decidido regresar esta parroquia al cuidado pastoral diocesano, la razón es el envejecimiento de los miembros de la provincia Marista de los Estados Unidos y la falta de reemplazos jóvenes.
Entonces, para esta época del próximo año, no quedará ningún marista en OLPH. El P. Paul será transferido a Wheeling, WV este 20 de septiembre y yo seré transferido a México en julio o agosto de 2024.
A lo largo de todos estos años hemos estado compartiendo con ustedes nuestra espiritualidad marista. Ha sido un viaje de fe increíble y bendito; hemos estado juntos, como un matrimonio fiel, “en los buenos y en los malos tiempos, en la enfermedad y en la salud” durante casi 38 años, cuando los primeros maristas llegaron aquí en 1986.
Los mantendré informados sobre el avance de este proceso; mientras tanto, les pido sus oraciones y su colaboración para que este año de transición pueda transcurrir de la mejor manera posible.
Pidamos a Nuestra Señora del Perpetuo Socorro que interceda ante Jesús por esta comunidad parroquial y por los maristas, vivos o fallecidos, que han formado parte de la historia de esta iglesia.
