Reflection
In his encyclical “Laudato Si: On care for our Common Home” Pope Francis quoted Pope Benedict XVI who stated in his homily at his Inaugural Mass, 2005, “The external deserts in the world are growing, because the internal deserts have become so vast. Therefore, the earth’s treasures no longer serve to build God’s Garden for all to live in, but they have been made to serve the powers of exploitation and destruction.”
So, we ask ourselves
As we are at the beginning of the Season of Creation that runs from the World Day of Prayer for Creation (September 1) to the Feast of St. Francis (October 4), patron saint “of those who promote ecology” …
Could we take this month for some self-examination as to what we are doing to contribute to the growth of “deserts” both individually and cooperatively?

Reflexión
En su encíclica “Laudato Si: Sobre el Cuidado de Nuestra Casa Común”, el Papa Francisco cita al Papa Benedicto XVI, quien declaró, en la homilía de su Misa Inaugural, en el 2005: “Los desiertos externos en el mundo están creciendo, porque los desiertos internos se han vuelto tan vastos. Por lo tanto, los tesoros de la tierra ya no sirven para construir el Jardín de Dios para que todos vivan en él, sino que han sido hechos para servir a los poderes de explotación y destrucción”.
Entonces, nos preguntamos
Al comenzar el Tiempo de la Creación, que va desde la Jornada Mundial de Oración por la Crea-ción (1 de septiembre) hasta la Fiesta de San Francisco (4 de octubre), santo patrón “de los que promueven la ecología” …
¿Podríamos tomar este mes para un autoexamen en cuanto a lo que estamos haciendo para con-tribuir al crecimiento de los “desiertos” tanto individual como cooperativamente?
